Over the last couple of decades, the mental health industry has begun to recognize the value of a comprehensive continuum of care following treatment. Studies revealing high relapse rates within the first year of recovery, particularly when an aftercare plan was not established or adhered to, supported the notion that treatment was just the beginning. Individuals who continue the work they began in treatment increase their chances of long-term recovery.
While treatment lays the groundwork for life in recovery, it is merely the tip of the iceberg. Learning how to live an abundant life outside of treatment is where the real work begins.
Men and women age 18 and older (adolescents upon referral only), who are actively seeking recovery from:
Substance Use Disorder
Eating Disorders
Depression
Anxiety
Individuals who have recently completed treatment (PHP, IOP or residential) and need accountability and guidance upon their return home
Individuals who have been to treatment more than once, who are familiar with the tools of recovery but need help putting them into practice
Individuals who are in recovery but are facing challenges
We assist clients in learning -- and implementing -- important life skills in recovery. Taking a holistic, client-centered approach, The Recovery Coach creates an individualized recovery plan following the initial complimentary consultation. We do not promote a particular method of recovery; instead, we determine the needs of each client and together, set realistic goals.
A certified recovery coach (also called a peer support specialist) provides strengths-based, solutions-based support for individuals who are actively seeking recovery from substance use disorder, eating disorders, depression, anxiety and other addictive behaviors or mental health conditions. A recovery coach assists clients in creating a plan of action, finding resources and building a strong support network.

Alison Broderick, NCRC-II, CPS-AD
Founder/Owner
Ever since my recovery journey began in February 2011, I have yet to encounter an individual who has found lasting success by recovering on his or her own. I am not implying it's impossible, but this is what I believe to be true: substance use disorders and other mental health conditions are characterized by intense isolation. In order to fully recover, one must lean on the support of others to find freedom and happiness. The opposite of addiction is connection.
My name is Alison Broderick. I am a Nationally Certified Recovery Coach-Level II (NCRC-II); a Georgia Certified Peer Specialist - Addictive Diseases (CPS-AD); and the founder/owner of The Recovery Coach, LLC. Having worked in the mental and behavioral health industry since 2012, I have had the opportunity to watch firsthand what works... and what doesn't. To witness the transformation of an individual who has recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body is nothing short of miraculous.
Recovery is the expectation. Everyone can recover using a pathway that suits his or her lifestyle. My friend, there is always hope.
What you cannot do alone, we can do together. It's not just about putting an end to the maladaptive behaviors; it's about achieving whole-body healing and getting to the root cause of your substance use disorder and/or unhealthy coping mechanisms.
If you are ready to give this recovery thing a real shot and achieve lasting success, The Recovery Coach wants to hear from you. Life is meant to be enjoyed and lived well.

Based on a client's needs, we implement frequent and random drug and alcohol tests to reinforce accountability and ensure he or she remains on track. We work with a national, full-service, accredited drug and alcohol testing service that serves as a liaison between HHS-certified laboratories and mental health professionals. Whether you are traveling for business or working with The Recovery Coach from a remote location, testing centers are conveniently accessible throughout all areas of the United States. Screenings are secure, confident and accurate; and same-day service is available.

Seth Harris, CPS-AD
Certified Peer Support Specialist/Recovery Coach
My name is Seth Harris, and I am a person in long-term recovery. A native of Atlanta, Ga., I graduated from the Westminster Schools before attending the University of Mississippi in 1999. I spent a decade in the Magnolia State before returning to Georgia in 2011.
Currently, I am the Associate Director of Admissions for a local addiction treatment program for men. Additionally, I help co-facilitate The Freedom Experience, a weekly support group that meets in the Woodstock, Ga., area.
In February 2020, I became a Certified Peer Specialist - Addictive Diseases (CPS-AD) through the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse (GCSA). I am passionate about supporting others as they discover the freedom and joy that recovery brings.
By choosing to "recover out loud," I have been fortunate to help hundreds of individuals and their loved ones navigate a path toward hope and freedom. I follow a person-centered approach that seeks to honor each individual’s story, and I believe autonomy, gratitude and staying present are guideposts for every recovery journey.
Seth is available for virtual recovery coaching sessions on the following days:
Tuesdays & Thursdays
Mornings, Afternoons
Fridays

Jeanne Schultz, M.Ed., CPRC
Certified Peer Recovery Coach
My name is Jeanne Schultz and I am a person in long-term recovery. I am from Pittsburgh, PA; grew up in Los Angeles; and have been living in Atlanta since 1989. Frequent moves during my childhood left their marks, but today I am grateful for the many blessings that have occurred along the way.
Like many, our family has been coping with the disease of addiction and mental illness for more than 10 years. While navigating a family member’s treatment and subsequent recovery, my reliance on unhealthy coping mechanisms increased. Unfortunately, as circumstances improved for others, my disease gained momentum.
In early 2017, I decided to give recovery a try and slowly realized I needed to rely on others to help me open up to the possibility of change. I knew I could not achieve rich and lasting recovery alone, and that my situation was not hopeless. So, I became teachable. As a retired middle school teacher of 26 years—with a master’s degree in Education from Mercer University—it was humbling, yet refreshing, to switch roles and show up as a 'student' in recovery.
Recovery has allowed me to be more present, open and honest in all facets of my life, especially with my loved ones. Today, our family is certainly not perfect, but we are more authentic and happier than we have ever been. I have found value in our shared experiences and now strive to bring this same hope to others. In the summer of 2020, I became a Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC) through the Alcohol & Drug Addiction Certification Board of Georgia; and in March 2021, I received certification as a Certified Peer Specialist -Addictive Diseases (CPS-AD) through the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse.
I welcome the opportunity to be a part of yours or your loved one’s recovery journey. Through my own lived experience, I know that change is possible!
Ty Miller, CADC-II Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (Level II)
My name is Ty Miller and I am a person in long-term recovery. In January 2011, I made the conscious decision to turn away from my destructive lifestyle of addiction and pursue freedom. I believe the pain and mental anguish I endured in active addiction, now serve as ammunition in my recovery to help others who are still suffering. I strive to lead by example each and every day, and to remain grateful for this new life I have been given.
I have worked in the mental and behavioral health industry since 2012. In 2016, I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kennesaw State University, and I became a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (Level II) through the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Certification Board of Georgia (ADACBGA) in 2018. Currently, I serve as the national client care navigator for Odyssey Behavioral Health.
I firmly believe that anyone can attain, achieve and sustain long-term recovery by fostering healthy connections. It’s no longer a one-size-fits-all approach — there are multiple pathways from which to recover. I’m excited to be given the opportunity to connect with you and share my experience, strength, and hope as so many have so graciously done for me.
We do not dredge up childhood traumas or contemplate future what-ifs; instead, we focus on healthy solutions and staying in the present moment.
